To Snore or Not to Snore...Breathing is the Problem
by John Barson, Executive Director, American Wellness Network
Has snoring affected you in any way? It certainly has me. I was beginning to think I would never find something to help me with or stop my snoring. Believe me when I tell you I have tried everything known to man. When I travel I carry spare ear plugs, not for me, for the people around me. I have been covering health shows for years with the totalhealth magazine crew and the first thing Richard and Lyle ask me for when I show up at the hotel prior to the show is…did you bring our earplugs?
I have tried everything but surgery. I do not have sleep apnea so the doctors refuse to consider surgery. If they would have I would have done it. I have tried strips, sprays, lotions, pills, pillows and more. The closest I got was the breathing strips. The problem with them was they work great standing up but as soon as I lie down...congestion and back to breathing through my mouth. And then there is the price. $30 per month...
Nothing, that is, until now. I was at the ExpoWest Natural Products Expo in Anaheim. I was there setting up interviews for the coming year for Total Health Radio. I hadn't walked the show floor for myself until an hour before I was to catch the shuttle bus to the airport. I took that time to wander around and look at some of the funky, unique and interesting new products. At one moment I looked at my watch and realized I was late for my shuttle bus to the airport. I took off looking for the shortest route to the main exit. As I was rushing down a row of booths I hadn't been down yet I saw a sign that said Stop Snoring. Yeah Right, I thought to myself. Been there, tried that. I almost kept going but something made me stop and go back. I looked at the gentleman in the booth. He was bent over stuffing something in a box and handing it to an interested buyer. I said, excuse me. He looked up at me and said "can I help you?". I said, almost scornfully, so tell me your story…do these things work? He shrugged his shoulders and said very matter of factly and with zero hype, "they work" and turned to help another customer. I looked at my watch and realized I had better get a move on so I asked him for a couple of samples. He happily gave me the samples and I turned and headed for the airport.
When I got home that night my partner asked me if I had any wine on the plane and I said yes. She suggested that maybe I sleep on the couch as she had an important day ahead and needed her sleep as opposed to listening to me snore all night. I laughed and said not tonight. I think I may have solved my snoring problem. And with that I showed her my MegaVent nasal dilators. After telling her everything that happened at the show we got ready for bed and the big test…
The next morning when we woke up I looked at her and said well? She looked at me and said you…you didn't snore…at all…
As I lie there I realized that my throat wasn't sore either and that I had slept all through the night without waking up once. One of the biggest problems I have is dry mouth but not that morning. I was amazed. The nasal dilators were quite comfortable. You don't really notice them after a few minutes. They are made from the highest grade of EVA plastic, are phthalate and BPA free and are recyclable. They are also reusable unlike the breathing strips. And, they have a Class 1 Medical Device rating in Europe.

John wearing his MegaVents |
Next I wondered how well they would work for my bike riding. As an ex-triathlete I still ride a lot to keep in shape and normally I can't breathe very well through my nose. That weekend I went on a 30 mile ride and wore the MegaVent nasal dilators. It was unbelievable. My breathing through my nose was great. Not only were these good in the bedroom but great for working out.
Since then I have given samples to a couple dozen people including doctors and nurses. Once doctor has since come back and purchased some of my extra dilators and the nurse took samples to the hospital to give to the respiratory doctors for the patients who are driving the nurses crazy at night with their snoring. In a study of 500 consumers, 80% reported a "significant breathing improvement".
I gave a pair of MegaVents to Paul Brooks, my corporate sales rep at www.NCIX.com. Paul was training for the Vancouver marathon. I saw him a week after the race and he thanked me profusely. Paul told me that he was halfway through the race and he was starting to labor painfully. His breathing was shallow and his legs felt like giving up. At that point he remembered the MegaVents. He had them in his pocket. He put them in and felt an immediate improvement. In a very short time he recovered and finished the rest of the race on what felt like fresh legs. He said he hadn't worn them from the start because he was concerned about nasal drip. Once he had them in his nose he said he realized that wasn't a problem as he could easily clear his nose without taking the MegaVents out. His parting words as I left the shop were "everyone should have a pair of these just to experience way better breathing."
It's wonderful to see the look in someone's eye when they hold a pair of MegaVent nasal dilators in their hand and think that for the first time they might actually be holding a cure for snoring and then to talk to them after they have used them. Im my opinion MegaVents greatly improve your quality of life. My thanks go to the inventor Leif Söderberg. It's a simple, but very long overdue invention.
