PEACE Quantum
by Alicia Ghiragossian
Yerevan State University
ISBN: 1-881415-10-4
|
Can poetry contribute to the peace process?
With so many armed conflicts raging all over
the globe, diplomacy is often cast aside in
favor of conflict. Demagogues who are intent
on feeding the war machine often shout down
words and voices of peace. As many poets are
true idealists in this world of strife, perhaps
we should turn to them more often for inspiration.
Important leaders of today’s peace movement
have endorsed Ghiragossian’s positive
message. Her poetry was put together to pay
respect to those who have given their lives
for peace and love like Martin Luther King, Jr.
and Mahatma Gandhi. It is her fervent hope
that her words can help contribute to creating
peace on this planet.
With 44 volumes of her poetry published,
her work is considered to be among the giants
of world poetry, attracting the attention of
many famous luminaries.
Her poetry is designed to register directly
into the subconscious. The poems are laid
out side by side in English, Spanish, and
Armenian, offering one of the world’s first truly
trilingual poetry books. Accompanying her
book is a CD of her poems, set to the music of
Chopin, and a DVD with a short film.

Your Mind: A Neurologist’s Guide to Happiness
by D.V. Pasupuleti, M.D., FACP, FAANEM

Depression affects millions of Americans, who
battle this quiet but debilitating disease on
a daily basis. According to the World Health
Organization, 15 percent of people in most
developed countries suffer from severe depression,
and it will be the largest killer (second
only to heart disease) by the year 2020. In a
world filled with war and terrorism, many turn
to drugs to rid them of their unhappiness.
Antidepressants only work for as little as
30 percent of the population, according to the
Uplift Program, and new studies have revealed
a connection between standard antidepressant
medications and higher rates of suicide,
violence and psychosis. Placebos often work
just as well or better than actual depression
medications, leaving many to wonder, “Do pills
really provide happiness?” Dr. D.V. Pasupuleti,
neurologist and author of Change Your Mind:
A Neurologist’s Guide to Happiness, supports a
simple, natural alternative to antidepressants:
your mind. Dr. Pasupuleti believes anyone can
create their own happiness by understanding
themselves and letting go of negative thoughts
and preconceived ideas. With Change Your
Mind, he explores the basic tenants for true
happiness geared toward regular people seeking
lasting contentment in their lives—from
single mothers, to business executives, to
high-stress college students.
“Learning to be happy is not a mystical
pursuit,” says Dr. Pasupuleti. “In my years as
a neurologist, I have noticed that the people
who are happy meet their problems with a
positive type of analysis and attitude, even in
the face of suffering.”
“It won’t happen overnight,” he says, “but
those who are willing to follow simple rules
for happiness will find that happiness can be
achieved.”
Dr. Pasupuleti is Director of Neurology at
Hurley Medical Center and a clinical professor
at Michigan State University.

Tarcher/Penguin

So what is Reiki? It is a gentle healing art that
was developed in Japan in the 20th century.
Reiki healing is facilitated by very light touch
that starts the flow of subtle healing energy
that restores balance. It is the least intrusive
and most relaxing of the energy therapies.
In nearly two decades of practice, Pamela
Miles notes that she’s never had a client go
through a session without something changing
for the better. In Reiki she traces the origins
of the technique, detailing how and why it
restores and renews the human body in ways
we’ve only begun to measure, and providing
step-by-step guidance for the aspiring Reiki
practitioners. Providing comprehensive information
on First-Degree, Second-Degree, and
Master Training, as well as historical context,
and targeted information for those seeking
Reiki for physical relief, Miles has crafted a
guidebook that is truly comprehensive. Reiki
covers:
- How Reiki heals by balancing the body’s energy and reducing stress.
- How you can tell it’s working.
- Why Reiki works for a wide range of problems, from chronic pain, depression and anxiety to cancer, diabetes, HIV, and arthritis.
- How it supports conventional medical care, hastening surgical recovery and reducing side effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
- Why Reiki is safe for children as well as the elderly, and why it combines well with interventions like medications, surgery, acupuncture, and even psych therapy.
- How to choose a Reiki practitioner.
- Why Reiki is not just for people in a health crisis but also for those who want to strengthen well-being and prevent illness.
- Why even when a physical cure is impossible, Reiki can still bring healing.
Illustrations guide the reader through
the hand placements associated with
Reiki.
With sensitivity, wisdom, and the
accumulated experience that comes
from more than 30 years as a healer
and Reiki practitioner, Miles empowers
readers by showing them how simple
it is to take an active role in their own
health care. Whatever your goals, Reiki
is an illuminating companion guide for
anyone ready to begin a journey toward
healing.

Reverse Underlying Causes of Arthritis
with Clinically Proven Alternative
Therapies (Second Edition)
by Ellen Kamhi, Ph.D., R.N., HNC and
Eugene R. Zampieron, N.F.D., M.H. (AHG) Celestial Arts
ISBN-13: 978-1-58761-258-9
ISBN-10: 1-58761-258-5

Arthritis is among the most common
health complaints in America. While
various types of arthritis differ, there are
some common features. For example,
scientific information is accumulating
that indicates that diet plays a major
role in the development, as well as the
treatment and prevention, of a wide
range of diseases including virtually all
types of arthritis. In addition, there is
mounting evidence that pharmaceutical
drugs may be doing more harm than
good.
Many doctors are beginning to recognize
that drug treatments are not
providing the long-term benefit they
had hoped to observe. In the treatment
of arthritis, they see their patients
continuing to suffer with their disease
despite stronger and stronger medications.
Does medical intervention in
some way promote disease progression?
Can nutrition and various natural
therapies enhance the body’s own
response toward health? The answer to
both of these questions, made evident
by the information presented in the
book Arthritis, is clearly yes.
Fortunately, nature offers some very
effective alternatives. In most cases, the
natural approach will provide far greater
relief because it addresses the underlying
disease process while rebuilding
overall health and vitality, without causing
a host of adverse effect. Kamhi and
Zampieron present noninvasive, natural
approaches for diagnosing, treating,
and preventing arthritis—all without the
risk of pharmaceutical side effects. They
also include information on supplement
therapy, massage and reflexology, organ
detoxification regimes, and immune
system boosters.
