Does What You Eat Make You Ill?

A Breakthrough in Food Sensitivity Training

“Approximately 70-80 percent of “Americans “currently suffering from chronic medical “conditions of unknown cause, who have “proven poorly responsive to conventional “medical interventions,“are suffering IgG-“mediated delayed-onset food allergies. The “first and often only therapy indicated for “these chronic sufferers is the identification “and elimination of the IgG-related allergic “foods.”
—James Braly, M.D.,
Author of Food Allergy Relief

There has been explosive growth in chronic illness in recent years. The first course of action for most people is to go to their family doctor to find solutions to their problems. Some patients are fortunate to get relief from symptoms without recourse to drugs but large numbers given prescribed antibiotics, painkillers, anti-depressants, anti-inflammatory drugs or ointments which are mainly providing only short-term solutions and may even be damaging over long term.

While this conventional approach works well for some individuals, not everyone gets better. Indeed the contrary is often the case. If you are experiencing the debilitating symptoms of the conditions listed in the chart on this page, they may be caused or exacerbated by food intolerance.

Possible causes of food intolerance include enzyme deficiency, reactions to chemicals in foods—and the most difficult to resolve—delayed-onset food allergies mediated by the IgG antibody.

Traditionally, elimination and challenge have been the first approach to identifying delayed-onset food allergies; however, this method is costly, time consuming and extremely difficult to manage, often ending in failure and frustration.

Delayed-onset food allergies often lead to chronic illness and these reactions can occur from two hours to many days after ingestion of the offending foods, therefore making them difficult to identify.

Over 100 ill-health conditions have been medically documented to be caused, provoked or worsened by food sensitivities.

Continuous consumption of the food to which you have an intolerance weakens your immune system. A weak immune system enables illnesses to develop and take hold. Many patients commonly report that they suffer from more than one illness prior to being tested for delayed onset food allergies.

Unlike classical allergies, usually more than one food is involved. On average, sufferers react to four or five different and apparently innocuous foods.

If you are allergic or sensitive to foods, it makes no difference if they are processed or organic foods. If your immune system perceives these foods to be invaders, the body will try its best to keep you from processing these foods into your system.

Because of the delay between eating the food and the onset of symptoms it is extremely difficult to identify the cause of the reaction without laboratory testing.

Now there is a reliable, affordable, comprehensive test to identify the food intolerance which could be impacting your quality of life and your immune system. It was developed by York Nutritional Laboratory, with over 18 years of experience in testing and identifying food intolerance. In the comfort of your own home or office, you can begin the process of this testing service without the need of an ordering physician or a blood draw.

The test accurately pinpoints delayed allergic reactions to foods and, when these foods are avoided, this leads to a stronger immune system and relief to the sufferer. A tiny pinprick of blood is all that is required for the food intolerance test.

It is becoming increasingly evident that there is a great deal of positive benefit to growing numbers of tested individuals who are reporting outstanding improvements to their health by the simple elimination of certain foods from their normal eating pattern. Indeed many of them report having had their illnesses all their lives and then went on to find relief within weeks.

York Nutritional Laboratory undertook a detailed 12-month study of 1761 persons with long-term illnesses with the purpose of investigating the impact of food sensitivity on the chronically unwell. The results show a specific relationship between a number of chronic illnesses and many commonly eaten and apparently innocuous foods.

More than seven out of 10 respondents reported distinct relief from their symptoms, which had troubled them for an average of over 12 years. The largest single group was over 600 patients who had suffered with their symptoms for just over 20 years—more than a third of their lives.

Most reported illnesses within three main disease conditions—gastrointestinal (mainly irritable bowel syndrome), neurological (mainly migraines and headaches) and dermatological (mainly eczema and psoriasis).

Over 90 percent of respondents were able to make changes to their eating habits and the findings were that nearly two-thirds were able to alter their diet rigorously. Seventy-five percent of these reported significant benefit and a similar number (76 percent) reported that the improvement started in fewer than 60 days.

For the most precise and detailed measurement of your delayed reactions to a food, this is currently our most popular test. Your blood will be tested against all of the individual foods on our comprehensive list.

I have been a practicing chiropractic physician for the past 21 years in Colorado and Florida. I started out as most chiropractors treating muscle/skeletal conditions but quickly progressed to a specialty in orthopedics, acupuncture and nutrition when I realized that a person consists of a spirit, mind and body. And that body must not only be well-adjusted in the spinal column but also well-fed, well-exercised and well-rested.

No matter what form of treatment you are receiving from your healthcare provider, i.e., allopathic, naturopathic, chiropractic, homeopathic, acupuncture, massage, spiritual treatments or, for that matter, vitamin therapy, without a healthy diet, none of these treatments will produce the desired results. The basic foundation for good health is to improve your diet which means not only eliminating “junk foods,” but discovering the foods that don’t agree with your body; finding out what foods are producing allergic reactions or sensitivities.

Many people are spending hundreds of dollars a month on nutritional food supplements and vitamins; many have sensitivities. The nutritional supplements that you are purchasing and taking for improved health could, in fact, be doing more harm than good if you have sensitivities to the very food items that are used to make the supplements. All responsible health-conscious individuals, parents—healthcare providers, including mental health practitioners, dentists, health food stores and vitamin companies—should urge their patients and customers to obtain this information prior to implementing a diet, supplement or treatment program.

Millions of individuals try popular diets including Atkin’s diet, zone diets, blood-type diets, milk diets, fruit diets, fasts and so on. Doesn’t it make sense to check your blood to see exactly what foods are causing many of your health problems? Your “healthy diet” may not be so healthy for your immune system.

All my life I wanted to make a difference to the people on this planet, more than just the few that I treat in my office on a daily basis. I have discovered a lab test that is a self-testing procedure where one can check his own blood for 93 foods, including yeast ,to determine his sensitivities. This testing procedure doesn’t require a visit to your doctor because you are able to take your own blood sample using a test kit that you can buy at a health food store or order directly from York USA. Many healthcare professionals will also have kits available for you; you do the rest, freeing them up for other procedures.

By knowing and avoiding which foods are the culprits behind your ill-health condition, you can be confident you are doing the right thing for your body every time you eat. Anyone who has a nagging health condition which has not responded to conventional therapy, every health-minded person who is concerned about his well-being and every person (child or adult) who has been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD and/or autism should be screened and have his food sensitivities identified. The majority will respond better to treatment programs and most will experience remarkable improvement in their health simply by eliminating the offending foods from their diets. Offering this service to my patients has cut down on the length of their treatments by more than 50 percent and it also gives them the power of being responsible for their own health. Remember, the best doctor you will ever have is yourself.

Editor’s Note:
Prior to including this article in totalhealth we invested in having three individuals tested by York USA. Results showed all three to have multiple intolerances. The food sensitivity guidebook and personalized program supplied by York USA has enabled each of them to initiate the appropriate plan to eliminate these toxic barriers to their optimal health.
