A NOVEL

by totalhealth editors

“To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms—this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religiousness. In this sense, and in this sense only, I belong to the ranks of devoutly religious men.”
Albert Einstein

Sanctuary: The Path To Consciousness
is about the one thing that makes up the universe: Energy—energy which cannot be created or destroyed. The book gives us a vision that contrasts the mechanistic Newtonian model of reality with the shift to Einstein’s view of human beings as intricate layers of complex energy fields which influence every aspect of our being. The authors, Stephen Lewis and Evan Slawson, take this one step further, illustrating that consciousness is the most subtle form of energy. This subtle energy flows in and around and through everything in the universe, making each day a remembrance of the sacramental, tied to the purpose of living, be that purpose as an oak, a frog, a human being or a bright and shining star. It gives a whole new meaning to “God is in all things and of him all things are made.”

Stephen Lewis explains, “In the quantum universe, energy is all there is. Energy obeys certain laws, most of the time. But when we talk about energy, we are talking about something that is not predictable other than by statistical probability. And with probability, any individual event may turn out any which way. What makes the difference is consciousness. Each being has his/her own unique energetic matrix of consciousness frequencies which are quantum in nature and are not something that occurs on the electro-magnetic scale.

“Western society, in the midst of this paradigm shift, needs to recognize a new language to deal with the ‘phenomenon’ of wholeness. The language in current use sees the physical universe as a material phenomenon and the human body as if it were just a composite of cellular material, totally disregarding the reality of the layered subtle energy in constant attendance. The new paradigm sees the entire universe as a manifestation of consciousness. As such, by changing our consciousness we can change anything.

“That humans are complex beings of conscious energy suggests a new way of comprehending the dimensions of wellness. What is dis-ease? What is health or wholeness? If the molecular composition of the physical body is dependent upon a subtle energetic matrix of pure energy, then surely this exquisitely refined system can mightily affect/nourish emotions, spiritual balance and the cellular vibration of the body. Scientists have recognized that the mind can affect the body and its ‘mechanism,’ as they see it.

“Our mission is to help participants remove their own subtle energy imbalances in order to achieve a balance which reconnects the individual with the spirit in order to become whole in mind and body.

“We do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. We provide balancing energies which help individuals correct disturbances in the subtle-energy field that is their basic essence. Some people who have done research in this area feel that there is a strong correlation between the detection of certain frequencies and the presence of disease organisms or pathogens. We say it’s irrelevant, because information about the frequency of a subtle energy disturbance is only good for removing that disturbance.”

Lewis began his interest in what he calls “subtle-energy physics” when he was exposed to the work of Wilhelm Reich, in oriental philosophy and religious practice. He has combined his natural healing gifts with a rare expertise in computer science and a vision/revelation, somewhat reminiscent of how Einstein connected with the truth of E=mc2, while camping in the high desert. This background has enabled him to develop the techniques and equipment which reveal subtle-energy imbalances and their associated balancing energies. Lewis says, “I see the world as an infinite interplay of subtle energetic forces. Using the Spiritual Technology devices we build, I can very accurately pinpoint many thousands of different subtle-energy imbalances. Through careful manipulation of these forces, participants can experience enhanced well-being on every level by removing the subtle-energy blockages which impede their natural ability to keep themselves in top condition. This may be experienced physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. As we remove negative frequencies from our energetic field, we become more conscious and thus more able to express our lives fully and completely.”

Slawson, a yoga, feng shui and Reiki practitioner, has worked as a writer and a technology consultant. Together Lewis and Slawson have expanded the possibilities of subtle-energy transformation through the church they founded to support this work. Their Energetic Matrix Church of Consciousness, LLC provides balancing energies to thousands of participants around the world. The name of the church expresses the essence of their ministry. They explain: “The Energetic Matrix is the structure of consciousness in the universe. We are a Church of Consciousness because consciousness is inherently divine. And the spiritual goal of our ministry is to help participants achieve higher consciousness.”

The Church is also known by its initials, EMC2. It echoes Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, E=mc2, which states that everything is energy. Lewis and Slawson believe that E=mc2 is a mathematical expression of a fundamental spiritual truth, demonstrating the oneness of everything. Both Lewis and Slawson say that they respect all religions as true and believe that the purpose of every religion is to guide its participants to higher consciousness.

According to scholars, Confucius collected ancient teachings into a set of books known as the Six Classics. One, the Book of Music has been lost to history. Reputedly it contained mantras or chants that were specific for removing or balancing each spiritual, karmic, emotional and physical illness known to man. Lewis and Slawson consider the technologies and encodings used by their organization, EMC2, to be the rebirth of this ancient work.

The authors state: “The ministry of EMC2 consists primarily of providing what we call energetic balancing, which is the removal of negative energetic information from the energetic matrix of the individual. The current best form of energetic balancing is a program we call AIM which stands for All-Inclusive Method. AIM provides all of the balancing energies we currently are aware of 24 hours a day. The energies are ‘applied’ to your photograph by placing the photo on an output portion of our equipment and you receive them wherever you happen to be.”

Many people have asked, “If this is prayer or mantra, then who is praying or chanting?” Historically there are quite a few examples of the generation of prayer or mantra energies using methods that do not require the presence or action of an individual. In the Tibetan culture, the use of prayer wheels is common. Prayer wheels have a prayer or mantra inscribed on their surface or inscribed on a scroll contained inside the wheel. It is believed that the turning force of the wheel generates the “energy” of the prayer.

Many Tibetan prayer wheels are turned by wind or water. Often a photograph of a person or an image of a deity is placed near the prayer wheel and it is thought that the energy of the wheel’s prayer or mantra is received by the person or deity depicted. Since wind or water is the force that turns the wheel, no person need be present to do the praying.

A similar “unattended prayer” practice can be found in some Christian religions. They use what is called a “prayer card,” which is a piece of paper with a prayer written on it. Sometimes the prayer card also has a holy icon or a picture of a person; other times, the picture or icon is placed near the prayer card. These are then placed beside a candle, called a prayer candle. The candle is lit and it is thought that the prayer on the card is being said for the one depicted for as long as the candle burns—even though the person who lit the candle leaves the area.

Frequently, people ask how the energies are received via a person’s photo. This is easy to understand for people who believe in prayer. Most people in this category agree that if you pray for someone depicted in a photograph, that person receives the energy of the prayer. What is more, they believe that the energy of the prayer is received immediately, no matter where that person is geographically in relation to the one who is praying.

This implies (and people seem to agree) that the energy of prayer travels even faster than light, since the energy is received instantaneously, without any delay whatsoever. This does, of course, defy what are sometimes called the “laws” of physics. The authors believe that the consciousness-stimulating energies sent by EMC2 are transmitted and received in the same way as any other prayer, whatever that way is.

EMC2 delivers thousands of energies that cover a wide range of issues of wholeness for living beings. The issue of wellness always has concerned churches and many of them have expressed this concern from time immemorial by offering prayers for healing. EMC2 follows in this tradition. In recent years, some scientists, e.g. physician and author Larry Dossey, have studied the benefits of prayer and have found that there is a statistically significant improvement in well-being for sick people who are prayed for. This confirms what most of us have always intuitively known.

Finally, people ask, “How does prayer heal?” The answer with EMC2 is that prayer does not heal, nor does energetic balancing heal. Only you can heal and you can only heal yourself. You can only do it with your own life force, your own energy, by focusing that energy on an imbalance, any imbalance, and removing it. In this respect, energetic balancing is analogous to the impact and performance of an effective prayer, which causes your consciousness to focus your life force on every imbalance you have, every second of every day for as long as it is necessary to remove that imbalance. That is why we believe the phrases “Spiritual Technology” and “Technology of Prayer in Healing” best describe our work, state Lewis and Slawson.
