Pycnogenol
Pycnogenol® (pic-noj-en-all) is a natural plant extract originating
from the bark of the French maritime pine tree that
grows on the coast of southwest France. This super-strength antioxidant
contains a unique combination of procyanidins, bioflavonoids
and organic acids that offer condition-specific nutrition
to the cardiovascular system, diabetes care and travel related
circumstances like deep vein thrombosis and leg swelling.
Dr. Lester Packer, a prominent researcher from the University
of California, Berkeley, demonstrated that Pycnogenol recycles
and regenerates vitamins C and E to extend their own antioxidant
activity. It scavenges harmful free radicals and fights oxidation,
which can lead to degenerative and age-related diseases if left untreated.
Heart Health:
Pycnogenol is a beneficial supplement to add to a cardio nutrition
regimen. Dozens of studies have shown its effectiveness in
heart health and its potential to counteract major cardiovascular
risk factors, including reducing platelet activity and relaxing artery
constriction. Research demonstrated that Pycnogenol works
to keep the heart healthy by reducing high blood pressure, enhancing
circulation, and reducing LDL (bad) cholesterol.
Pycnogenol reduces inflammation in the body, which, if left
untreated, can result in heart disease. The antioxidant reduces
inflammation by neutralizing free radicals.
Diabetes Health:
Good news for the 100 million people suffering from diabetes.
Scientists discovered type II diabetes patients had lower blood
sugar and healthier blood vessels after supplementing with
Pycnogenol. Additional research showed that type II diabetes
patients who continued to take their anti-diabetic medication
further lowered blood sugar levels and increased cardiovascular
function with Pycnogenol. Previous studies with more than
1,000 patients determined the ingredient may help manage diabetic
retinopathy.
Travel Health:
Have you ever noticed how heavy and swollen your legs feel after
a long airline fiight? The swelling is caused by lack of movement
and insufficient venous blood circulation, with fluids accumulating
in tissues throughout the legs.
Studies found that passengers who supplemented with Pycnogenol
experienced less leg and ankle swelling and discomfort
during long airplane fiights lasting 7-12 hours. Additionally, passengers
were protected from thrombotic events or complications
from deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Leg and ankle swelling
can lead to dangerous conditions such as DVT, caused by a
blood clot that partially or completely blocks blood flow in the
vein. Pycnogenol is an effective preventative measure for healthy
and safe travel.
Pycnogenol has been studied for 35 years and has over
180 published studies and review articles ensuring safety and
efficacy as an ingredient. Pycnogenol is available in over 400
dietary supplements, multi-vitamins and health products worldwide.
Choose from an assortment of stand-alone supplement
products, condition-specific combination formulas, or cosmetic
creams and lotions.
