olostrum is an important natural supplement backed by 20 years of solid clinical research conducted by the traditional medical establishment. Innumerable studies have shown that colostrum can powerfully improve the immune system, destroy diseasecausing pathogens, prevent infection, transmit immunity and accelerate the healing of all types of injuries.

Colostrum is the first nourishment that mammals, including humans, give their newborn for up to the first 48 hours of life. It contains numerous immune-system compounds and growth factors that trigger at least 50 processes in newborns, ranging from the development of the immune system to the growth of all body cells. Medical evidence shows that adults who use dairy colostrum receive the same benefits that human colostrum offers newborns. Nikki-Marie Welch, M.D. says, “When I discovered colostrum, I confirmed that it had been extensively studied. This helped me to feel a lot more comfortable about it than many lesstested remedies.”

Colostrum users report enhanced wellbeing, energy and stamina, as well as a lower incidence of illnesses. Many doctors report using colostrum to assist with a variety of conditions including lowered immune function, chronic or recurring infections, colds, flu, allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, hepatitis, AIDS, cancer and diabetes.

A Potent Boost to Immune Function
The onset of almost all infectious and degenerative diseases is related to a depressed immune system. Colostrum contains powerful immune factors (immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, leukocytes, cytokines and interferon) that destroy pathogens and help restore immune function.

Colostrum also contains PRP polyprolinerich- peptides), which have been shown in clinical trials to help strengthen underactive immune systems and balance overactive immune systems present in autoimmune diseases, conditions in which the body actually attacks itself. PRP helps restore the thymus gland to optimally produce vital T cells that fight viruses and antigens. Colostrum is helpful with illnesses such as fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease and scleroderma. PRP has also been shown to help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s and reduce up to 50 percent of related symptoms.

Colostrum, A Powerful Natural Antibiotic
New strains of harmful bacteria and viruses are appearing with frightening speed worldwide. Many new bacterial strains exhibit dramatically increased resistance to even the most powerful antibiotics.

Fortunately, colostrum helps counter this in two important ways. First, its immune factors greatly strengthen the body’s natural defenses against disease-causing agents. Second, colostrum contains lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase, shown clinically to be nature’s most potent, broadspectrum natural antibiotic and antiviral agent, respectively (standard antibiotics are not effective against viruses). They are so effective that they can even impact the HIV and hepatitis C and B viruses.

Colostrum also helps prevent the bacterial infection of food poisoning (attacking an estimated 30 million Americans each year). Clinical trials performed by Army researchers proved colostrum’s effectiveness in preventing and/or healing diarrheal diseases in U.S. troops.

The GI Tract, Center of Immune Function
Colin Holloway, M.D., and Michail Borissenko, M.SC., agree that most ill health starts in the bowel, particularly from a condition known as leaky gut syndrome (LGS), affecting about 70 percent of Americans. The damaged intestinal walls are more permeable than normal, allowing toxins, such as bacteria, viruses and other harmful agents, to enter the blood stream directly and travel throughout the body. Also, undigested fats and proteins can escape into the intestinal wall, causing allergic reactions. Food allergies develop when the large protein molecules are absorbed before they are completely metabolized.

The immune system develops antibodies against these protein invaders. Eventually, when that food is eaten, the body attacks the proteins and an allergy develops. In a normally healthy gut, these toxins are eliminated.

Some causes of LGS are gastrointestinal infection, use of antibiotics, pain medications, pharmaceuticals, food preservatives, pesticides, and overindulgence in alcohol and carbonated beverages. The reduced immunity that accompanies LGS can lead to gastritis, ulcers, chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma, heart disease, diabetes (type I and II), cancer and more.

Colostrum may be of significant help to sufferers of any disease associated with LGS.

Because the immunoglobulins and other factors in colostrum reach the gut intact, they attack the invading pathogens, preventing them from causing damage. The growth factors have an anti-inflammatory action and help repair the damaged cells in the intestinal lining to prevent further leakage. Unless the gut is healed, the body cannot begin to repair the damage. Once healing begins, the amount of toxins leaked into the blood will decrease, nutritional uptake will improve and the body will have better access to the fuel needed to make repairs.

Who Should Use Colostrum?
Using colostrum on a daily basis is beneficial to everyone. If you want protection against colds, flu or other infectious disease, colostrum will help your immune system. For infants not being breast-fed, colostrum added to the baby’s formula or baby foods can provide the essential growth and immune factors not available in infant formulas. Strenuous exercise depresses the natural immune system for a period of two to four hours afterward. Daily use of colostrum helps build resistance to illness causing viruses and bacteria and keeps our body in a healthy, balanced state. What Colostrum Should I Use?

We recommend colostrum from New Zealand where cows are certified to be free from pesticides, antibiotics, hormones (including rBST) and other toxic chemicals, and very strict government processing standards are followed.

Colostrum’s effective components are sticky proteins. Processing colostrum with an outer coating of lipids to maximize dispersibility in the gut is essential to effectiveness. Symbiotics’ New Life Colostrum PlusTM, with beta-lipidTM coating, is the only product that provides this benefit. It has been shown to be the most effective natural intercellular carrier of nutritional components available, making them up to eight times more bioavailable.

Dr. Welch says, “Experience in my office shows that patients generally thrive after taking colostrum—their conditions usually improve substantially and they feel a greater sense of wellbeing, along with enhanced energy and stamina. If we can help patients get better without using more toxic pharmaceuticals, we do it . . . my discovery of colostrum [is] an important new nutritional supplement for enhanced health and well-being.” .
